German as a Foreign Language – Intensive course

Preparation for language for specific purposes exam

doctors

To be able to work in Germany, doctors from abroad must possess excellent German language skills and be able to successfully pass the respective German federal state’s Medical Council language for specific purposes exam. The so-called transfer language is a particular challenge of this exam. Doctors must be able to master both German colloquial language with generally comprehensible medical terms as part of patient-doctor conversations and specialised medical language as part of doctor-doctor conversations.
Following the Lower Saxony Medical Council’s language for specific purposes exam and with your activity as a doctor in Germany in mind, this course focusses on the following:

• Medical history conversation
• Physical examination
• Medical consultation
• SOAP case presentation
• Textualization of case presentation
• Transfer language in everyday medical language
In addition to the relevant structures and useful phrases, this course will also teach you the essential techniques for successfully holding a conversation.
